After you've decided you need a new website, you must decide on a domain name. A domain name is the "address" (also known as URL - Uniform Resource Locator) that people type into their web browser to find you on the Internet, such as www.whitladesign.com. Usually something short and sweet which also describes your business is best. Once you've decided on a domain name, I can get it registered for you and active on the Internet.

The more detailed information provided on your website the better because most people like to understand how what you are offering benefits them before they contact you. Details about your business, examples of your work, pricing structure, contact information are all things that are going to get you more business. Once your website code has been built, it will be published to the world wide web. To do this, the website code must be moved to a server on the world wide web that can be accessed by anyone from anywhere by simply typing your domain name in the browser. In effect, that server is “hosting” your website. I can provide all hosting services and prefer to do so in order to have full server access when initially publishing your website when you "go live" as well as performing ongoing maintenance.

Once your website has gone live on the Internet, you will want to keep it fresh and vibrant with regular maintenance. Constantly tweaking your site will create interest and will keep people coming back for repeat visits over and over again, but you could quickly lose them if your site becomes stale and boring.

Once your website is on the web, how will people find you? That’s where SEO (Search Engine Optimization) comes into play. Ever wondered how a website gets to be on the 1st page of Google or Yahoo? The answer... A lot of link exchanges and site optimization so that search engines will crawl your site and rank it highly based on keywords, content and the number of other highly ranked sites that are linked to yours. Most people will go to a “search engine” site like GOOGLE or Yahoo and put in a phrase like "website design” and then the search engine will find related sites according to those keywords. What I can do for you is make sure your site will be found by these search engines. Don’t be fooled, this is not an instant deal, this process can take several months to work your way to the top and it is a constant battle to stay in the game.

We highly recommend starting an online ad campaign like Google AdWords which will allow your website to show up in the "Sponsored Links" sections of most search engines and other popular websites like Amazon and eBay.
