Whitla Design Studio specializes in web design and maintenance for small businesses. Your website will be custom-designed and will promote your company in unique and captivating ways which will begin attracting customers immediately. You can include sub-pages, photos, mouse-overs, graphic animation and even flash video on your pages. An innovative and artistically inspired website by Whitla Design will create a brand new web presence and generate increased revenue for your business.

My Approach

It is no longer simply good enough to merely have a website. Your site must immediately capture the visitor's attention, contain current and interesting information, and engage the visitor, or as quickly as they came they will be off to a competitor’s website. Statistically, the longer a visitor remains on your site, the more likely they are to become a valued customer.

The website’s new look and feel shall include a theme that is appropriate for your business. It can include innovative new techniques such as a shopping cart if you have merchandise to sell, or flash video and flash photo albums which will grab your visitor’s attention and captivate them. The design should be clean and uncluttered and the site easy to navigate with appropriately named pages and visible navigation tools so that your visitors can easily find what they are looking for. The site will be optimized for use in search engines.

Establish Goals

During our initial visit, my goal will be to learn about your business, your marketing strategies and your goals for your website. I will also talk to you about what type of image you want to portray with your site, it's overall look and feel and if we will be imaging your site to emulate other printed materials or if it will take on it's own identity.

We will also discuss your budget, what services you are looking for, how many and what types of pages you want your site to contain and create a tentative design schedule that will meet your time frame goals.

Objectives

A new website for your business will:

  • Meet your Business needs: We offer a site design, maintenance and hosting package that will keep your site LIVE on the Internet, ever changing, and promoting a fresh front so that your visitors will keep coming back time and again to see what’s new.
  • Present a whole new image: Your website is a reflection of your business. In the Internet marketplace, image and perception are everything. We want your site to present a mood or theme that matches what you are all about; one that will interest your visitors upon landing on your home page and draw them even deeper into your site.
  • Reach a broader market: Your site will be submitted to several different search engines so your customers can start finding you right away. Site optimization techniques will be used to ensure your business’ position in search engine results and increased visibility.
  • Provide statistical feedback: Site statistics will be captured for all visitors who enter and browse the site. This tool can provide valuable insight as to how well your site is doing based on traffic flow and which areas of the country your visitors reside. You shall be granted access for viewing the stats online or they can be sent to you in e-mail reports.

Site Plan and Proposal

After establishing your website goals, theme and creating a draft of the site plan, I will present you with a formal proposal for your review of the services you have requested. Once the proposal has been accepted work will begin.

My proposal will include at least two site design concepts each with a completely different look and feel as well as specific element examples. I will review each of these concepts with you and demonstrate the capabilities and individual fundamental differences in each.

After reviewing the design concepts you will have the option to:

  1. Select a design concept “as-is” in which case the site finalization process can begin.
  2. Select a combination of elements from each of the concepts and combine them into a new site to create a unique and well-rounded solution to your needs.
  3. Decline any of the current designs and request that Whitla Design consider a different approach to the entire design concept based on your ideas.

NOTE: Please remember that these concepts are literally “rough drafts” of what the finalized site will look like. Page content may be incorrect and some of the links may be non-functional. Upon selection of a design concept (either Option 1 or 2), a deposit will be required to begin the site refining and finalization process.

Site Finalization

Site finalization includes tweaking and refining the site content including text and photos, page names, footer content, etc. in preparation for publishing the site live to the Internet.

Once the site is considered finalized, the site will be published to our web server for your review and approval. Constant communication during this process is essential in order to achieve your goals. Revisions will be made as necessary to ensure client satisfaction. Upon completion of the requested revisions, you will be notified via e-mail which will include hyperlinks to the updated pages for re-review.

Site Activation

After client sign-off on the finalized design has been received, the website will be published to the Internet and will resolve to your domain name within 24 - 48 hours. If all is in order, you will receive a final invoice for the outstanding balance of the design work within a few days.

Unlimited text/photo content revisions and technical support will be provided for 14 days following the publish date unless an unlimited maintenance package is in affect in which case revisions can include more than merely text and photo content.

Maintenance

In order to keep your website fresh, appealing and up-to-date, ongoing maintenance is strongly advised. Without consistent and regular maintenance, your site becomes nothing more than a static brochure which does an injustice to the dynamic nature of your business and fails to take advantage of the valuable capabilities of your new website.

Terms

  • Copyright and limitations on use:
  • Whitla Design retains exclusive ownership of all code and custom design elements contained within each page comprising the website. In addition, all website elements including overall theme design, graphic elements, and flash content are copyright protected by Whitla Design and cannot be used for any other purpose without written permission.

You will retain ownership rights on all photographs, video and other content supplied to Whitla Design for use within the website.

  • Payment / Billing:
  • A 50% deposit is due at the time a site proposal is accepted in order to begin the site finalization and refinement process. The remainder of the contracted amount will be invoiced the day after the website publish date plus 2 months all-inclusive maintenance fees (if applicable).

Payment is due within 14 days of receiving the invoice. If payment is not received by the due date, the website will be brought down rendering it inaccessible on the web. All-inclusive package rates must be paid up-front in order to take advantage of the package savings.

Unlimited maintenance will be billed on a monthly basis prior to the month for which service will be provided and payment will be due within 30 days of the invoice date. The final month of the contract will not be billed as the first two months were pre-paid. As-needed maintenance will be billed at the end of the month for which service has been provided (if any) and payment will be due within 30 days of the invoice date.

  • Contract Renewal:
  • New contract conditions can be negotiated upon or before expiration of the current contract and will be based on the current market values for services rendered.

  • Contract Termination:
  • Upon termination or expiration of a contract with Whitla Design, the website containing content proprietary to Whitla Design shall be removed from the Internet or can be purchased in it's entirety free and clear.

If the client desires to terminate the services of Whitla Design during an all-inclusive package term, the client shall forfeit any unused portion of the pre-paid fees. The intent to terminate services shall be provided in writing to Whitla Design informing of the reason and date to terminate services.

If, for any reason, Whitla Design should be unable to provide the contracted maintenance and support services, the cost of any unused portion of services paid shall be refunded.

  • Limitation of Liability:
  • The site text and photo content is solely the responsibility of the client and does not represent the views or opinions of Whitla Design. Whitla Design shall not be held liable for any of this content.
